Sporta placed two Japanese basketball prospects at top U.S. High Schools

Leon Shingo (Class of 2026) and Cayman Martin (Class of 2027) both received scholarships and recently moved to the United States to further pursue their goals of becoming NCAA Division 1 prospects. Both are also members of the Japanese National Team and graduates of the GLOBALLERS (15U travel team) program.

Sporta Japan managed the entire placement process, working diligently to ensure these players found a U.S. High School that was a strong academic, cultural and athletic fit. This process included admissions interviews, athletic department discussions, visa issuance, housing, insurance and other accommodations.

Leon Shingo (St. John Bosco High School)

Class = Junior (2026)

Height = 6'4"

Position = Guard

Leon arrived at St. John Bosco this month to start his Junior year and further elevate his basketball career. The Bosco Braves are the defending California State Champions and a national powerhouse (ranked in the Top 10).

Leon is highly regarded as the top ranked 16 year old in all of Japan. He already has Division 1 offers from Hofstra University and Radford University. Leon most recently competed in the FIBA Asian Championships as part of the Japan National Team. Unfortunately, Leon injured his ankle at the conclusion of this tournament and had to sit out his Sophomore season. He is now healthy and excited to play for the Bosco Braves.

Cayman Martin (Crespi Carmelite High School)

Class = Sophomore (2027)

Height = 6'8"

Position = Forward

Cayman also arrived in the Los Angeles area this month to start his Sophomore year at Crespi Carmelite High School. The Crespi basketball program is ranked highly in the State and is coached by Former NBA player and NY Knicks Coach, Derek Fisher. Cayman's teammates will include Matt Barnes' (ex-NBA player) two sons.

Cayman is another highly regarded Japanese prospect and member of the Japan National Team. He recently completed his Freshman year at Kaishi Kokusai (Japan's top HS program) and was selected to Kyoto's All-Prefecture Team. Cayman is positioned to have a leading role at Crespi and to compete for the State title.

We at Sporta are excited to see how both players progress and strive to reach their goals. There is a good chance they could faceoff against each other sometime this season.
